Escape Rooms, much like any other place, have a set of rules that one should follow. Often, they are not common sense or may not be explained to newcomers. Here are some things you need to know when entering and participating in an Escape Room.

The Tips and Tricks

Firstly, when you make an appointment for a room, please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your appointment. This gives you plenty of time to sign waivers and use the restroom before your room gets started. If you have a larger group (10 or more people) it is suggested that you show up earlier than that to make sure everyone is aware of which room they are doing, sign waivers and use the restroom.

Secondly, treat the props and each other with respect. The props that are in escape rooms are often made with love and can be very expensive to replace. The staff asks that you do not break anything, or you may be fined for its replacement. Also, others are there to have fun, please do not hit, make fun or say rude things to other places or the gamemasters. It is more fun when everyone feels involved!

Next, the staff asks that everyone use their inside voices. It is understandable to become excited and get a little loud but keep in mind that there are others in the building. Many groups will yell over each other which disturbs the other rooms and stalls the progress of your own game. Gamemasters will give you verbal warnings if extreme volumes continue.

Continuing, the Gamemasters give a brief on the room and the rules before your game begins. This is very important, so please listen. It tells you things you can and cannot do, gives you clues about the room and can prevent any wasted time during your game. Listening to those rules also allows you to not accidentally break anything which would result in a fine after your room.

Something you should do, however, is never be afraid to ask questions before your rooms starts or during your room. The Gamemasters are there to help and make sure you have a good time. If you need a clue, want to make sure you are on the right track, or something is not working please utilize the gamemaster.

The Answer to Escape

You need to have fun. Escape Rooms are challenging but are there to make you have a good time with a group of people. If you feel frustrated because you are stuck, ask for help. It is common for first time escape room participants do not escape, so going in with the mindset of having run and not trying to defeat it could be the key to winning. Enjoying your time and making memories is the best way to spend your time.

We hope to see you soon for your adventure because it’s Escapin’ Time.
